The calculators and reference tables are built on NEC 2023. The app is also jurisdiction-aware: set your location once (by GPS, ZIP code, or state picker) and a persistent banner on the calculator home screen shows the NEC edition your AHJ currently enforces — 2008, 2014, 2017, 2020, or 2023, depending on jurisdiction. City overrides cover NYC and Chicago today. When you’re online, the app silently checks for newer adoption dates and shows an “Updates to NEC YYYY in Mon ’YY” line on the banner whenever your AHJ has scheduled a switch. Your jurisdiction is also shared with the Coop Assistant so its answers stay relevant to your AHJ. If you don’t set a jurisdiction, the latest NEC edition is used by default. Always confirm with your local building department before relying on it.
The calculators are built on NEC 2023 methodology. If your jurisdiction enforces an earlier edition, the banner will show that edition so you can cross-check any article-specific values against the code your AHJ uses. Cooperin Guide is a reference and estimation tool, not a licensed engineering service. All results must be independently verified before use in any electrical installation. Always confirm with your local AHJ.
The Coop Assistant uses external processing to generate answers. All 14 NEC calculators, the standard calculator, and all reference tables (including wiring diagrams, NEC tables, and blueprint symbols) work fully offline — only the assistant and tax rate lookup require an internet connection.
In the Coop Assistant tab, tap the photo icon to attach an image. You can use your camera or select from your photo library. Type your question about the equipment (e.g., "What size wire and breaker does this motor need?") and send.
Tax rates are fetched as estimates from a third-party service and are for convenience only. You are responsible for verifying all tax rates with the appropriate taxing authority. See the tax notice on all invoices for full details.
All data is stored locally on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. Use the Backup feature in the Tools tab to export and safeguard your data.
Cooperin Guide is a paid app purchased through the App Store or Google Play. To restore on a new device, sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to purchase, then download the app — no additional charge. Use the Backup/Restore feature to transfer your job and invoice data.
Please email support@cooperin.guide with details including the calculator name, the values you entered, the result you received, and what you believe the correct result should be. Include the NEC article or table reference if applicable. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate promptly.
